A little more than a year ago, a blind audition from The Voice Romania went viral among Rock ‘n’ Roll fans around the world when Alexandra Căpitănescu covered the iconic Guns N’ Roses classic, Welcome to the Jungle. Rock and Metal auditions in such competitions always grab the attention of fans of these genres for their rarity in the sea of mainstream pop-dominated performances. Alexandra’s audition stood out even more for its electrifying energy and her ability to captivate both the audience and the judges alike.

Here’s a quick report on what happened with Alexandra Căpitănescu after her famous audition, including updates on her releases since The Voice.

Alexandra went on to win the eleventh season of The Voice Romania, delivering some exceptional performances along the way. Her performances showcased her versatile talent and her ability to perform across different genres and musical styles. From classic rock with Alone by Heart, to the powerful ballad Shallow by Lady Gaga, to the heavy The Phantom of the Opera, Alexandra displayed unique talent and proved she deserved to win the whole competition.

Throughout the competition, Alexandra showed her passion for Rock, from choosing Tudor Chirilă as her coach, to rocking a The Who shirt while performing Killa Fonic’s Niciun Glonț Nu Doare Cât Dragostea, to performing heavier renditions of Pop songs like Madonna’s Like A Prayer. Her victory was a source of delight for many Rock fans around the world.

After The Voice, Alexandra continued to showcase her versatility in the music she released. While she has leaned more toward the Pop Rock and Soft Rock side of the spectrum compared to the Classic and Hard Rock style she delivered on the show, she still created the beautiful rock anthem Căpitanu’ (probably her heaviest original to date). You can also clearly hear strong Rock elements even in her lighter sounds, such as the electrifying guitar solo in Paranormal (from the Căpitanu’ EP). She most recently released the single Arde, another beautiful song to add to her growing collection. She has yet to release a song in English for her international audience. However, as one of her international fans, I don’t mind not understanding the lyrics when the music and voice are at this level.

As fans eagerly await her next move, many are hoping for more of the powerful, heavier sounds that made Alexandra’s The Voice audition so unforgettable. It’s clear that her musical journey is far from over, and with her ever-evolving talent, we can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
