American alternative metal band Anaria released their latest single “Chasing Shadows” on August 1, 2025. The track is the title song of their brand-new EP, now available on all major streaming platforms. This release also serves as a preview of their forthcoming full-length album, titled Between Loving and Dying.
With cinematic production, emotional depth, and a refined sonic identity, Chasing Shadows marks a new creative chapter for the band. The title track explores themes of self-destruction, internal struggle, and the pursuit of purpose in the aftermath of personal collapse.
The cover art for Chasing Shadows features a dark and enigmatic atmosphere, dominated by deep shades of black and gray. At the center stands a stylized figure of Jessica Mercy, Anaria’s lead vocalist, who is shown embracing a skeleton—symbolizing the internal struggle between life and death, fragility, and self-destruction conveyed by the song.
The only vivid color in the artwork is a striking red rose tucked into Jessica’s hair, creating a powerful contrast against the muted, shadowy background.
The background is abstract, with textures resembling smoke or dense fog, creating a sense of mystery and confusion. Small cold light glimmers emerge from the shadows, representing the search for clarity and hope amid darkness.
You can enjoy now their new incredible music video for Chasing Shadows too!
“Chasing Shadows reflects that feeling of insignificance after we’ve destroyed ourselves. Even when we fall apart, we keep reaching for clarity in the darkness,” says lead vocalist Jessica Mercy.
Produced under the AddicSound label, the single is accompanied by an official music video released on August 3.
Based in New England (USA), Anaria is currently composed of:
• Jessica Mercy – Lead vocals and lyricist
• Sergio Salvucci – Lead guitar and producer
• Dan Spinney – Rhythm guitar
• Matt Frotten – Bass
• Johnathan Jena – Drums
The band blends symphonic metal influences with modern alternative rock and cinematic arrangements, creating a powerful and emotionally rich sound. Over the years, they have shared the stage with acts such as Lacuna Coil, Amaranthe, Flyleaf, and Powerman 5000, building a solid reputation in the modern metal scene.
