Two powerhouses of dark music, Lord of the Lost and IAMX, have merged their talents on an intense new single, “What Have We Become?”, serving as a striking preview of the German band’s forthcoming album, OPVS NOIR Vol. 2. For those who closely follow the darker, more theatrical currents of rock and electronica, this collaboration is a long-awaited event. Lord of the Lost, the unstoppable force hailing from Hamburg, has carved out a name for itself with a potent and versatile blend of Dark Wave Metal, Industrial Metal, and Metalcore. Led by the charismatic Chris Harms, the band is synonymous with flawless production and a dramatic aesthetic that transcends the musical. On the other hand, IAMX is the solo project of British musician Chris Corner, a key figure in Electropop and Electro Industrial. His music is profoundly theatrical, emotional, and dark, highlighted by Corner’s unmistakable voice and an always avant-garde visual performance. The result of this synergy is the single “What Have We Become?”. The song has been described as a dark anthem that masterfully blends IAMX’s electronic sensibility with Lord of the Lost’s dramatic power. This track is one of the focal points of Lord of the Lost’s upcoming work, the album OPVS NOIR Vol. 2. This new album is the second installment in a planned trilogy and is focused on exploring the band’s more melancholic and introspective side. The album, titled OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, is set to be released on December 12, 2025 via Napalm Records. The record features 11 songs and includes an impressive roster of collaborators, in addition to IAMX: “Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?” features Lena Scissorhands (of Infected Rain), “Raveyard” includes the participation of Käärijä (Eurovision 2023 runner-up), and “Please Break The Silence” features Anna Brunner (of League of Distortion). Fans of both bands now have a dark and moving single to dissect while awaiting the official release of OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 at the end of next year.
