Greek alternative metal band Absinthe Green has released a new single titled “When The Lights Go Out.” The track is currently available to stream across all major digital platforms. Thematically, the new release explores concepts of the human shadow-self, primal instincts, and the idea of embracing one’s uninhibited nature rather than suppressing it, utilizing themes of total surrender to the unknown.
Musically, the new track combines jagged guitar riffs and heavy rhythmic grooves with dynamic, emotionally driven vocal performances. Fronted by vocalist, songwriter, and producer Eirini “Absinthe Green,” the four-piece group builds their sound by blending traditional hard rock and alternative metal elements with accessible pop sensibilities to create heavy but highly melodic landscapes.
Originally formed as a solo project in Germany in 2016 before relocating to Athens, Greece in 2019, Absinthe Green eventually expanded into a full live band featuring drummer Harry Mason, bassist Villy Pirris, and guitarist Panos Economakis. “When The Lights Go Out” serves as the group’s latest material following the successful launch of their debut full-length album, Of Love and Pain, which was released in late 2025 and co-produced by renowned Finnish producer Hiili Hiilesmaa.
