The program for Tuska 2024, which will take place on the weekend after Midsummer 28-30 June 2024, has been finalized. The legendary Tuska line-up is crowned by Slayer legend Kerry King and his band, whose recent debut solo single “Idle Hands” proves that the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree, and that’s a good thing. King’s compositions on the solo album, due out in May, are backed by the maestro’s interpretations from Paul Bostaph, a familiar drummer from many heavyweights, ex-Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel, Hellyeah bassist Kyle Sanders and Death Angel soloist Mark Osegueda as the icing on the cake.
The program is rounded off by a bunch of Finnish specialists in heavy expression: melodic doom metal from Kaunis Kuolematon in Hamina, progressive doom metal band The Abbey, synth/retrowave group NightStop, melodic death/black metal with an arctic touch from Suotana in Rovaniemi, brutal and technical old-school death metal from Malformed and melodic, modern and very diverse metal from Shereign.

The Tuska KVLT Stage at the Tuska Festival, which will take place on the weekend after Midsummer 28-30 June 2024, will feature seven bands who have earned their place on the bill by being part of the Tuska KVLT community last summer.
This summer’s Tuska KVLT bands are Agarwaen, offering raw and shaken soundscapes with catchy riffs, Kollectivist, a Gulf-based band playing modern metal with melodeath and prog motifs, and Terromania, a Jyväskylä-based band playing intense and dynamic heavy metal, Satra, combining symphonic elements with heavy pedaling; My Misery, a Vantaa-based band that mixes thrash, punk, death metal, and core influences; Metal Riot, a Tampere-based band that plays old school heavy metal; and SulfuriS, a Vantaa-based band that mixes unashamed extreme metal with epic melodies.

We were involved in Tuska KVLT in the summer of 2023 after hearing that it was possible to get to play in Tuska through it and understanding the amount of potential contacts we could make along the way. While working in KVLT, we quickly learned how relaxed Tuska’s visitors are and what a great environment it is for both the staff and those of us involved in KVLT. The team leaders were professional and we were all welcomed with open arms. Looking back on that weekend now, I wouldn’t change it for anything. It also feels good to be able to say that this year we will be playing at Tuska ourselves,” says Antti Saarinen, guitarist and singer of Terromania.

Tuska KVLT recruitment and band call open
The nearly 200-strong Tuska KVLT community aims to ensure the continuity and renewal of the culture around metal music. The community is involved in organizing the festival alongside more than a thousand event professionals. Participants get to see all aspects of event production before, during, and after the festival.
Getting to know different but like-minded people is one of the attractions of the community year after year. In 2023, the youngest participants in Tuska KVLT were just 18 years old, and the oldest 65. There were both first-timers and familiar faces from previous years.
Recruitment for 2024 is currently underway on the Tuska KVLT website. No previous festival experience is required, just 18 years of age and a good attitude. There is an induction for all positions.
The recruitment process is also looking for new talent for the 2025 Tuska KVLT Stage. A spot on the festival stage is guaranteed once all band members have participated in Tuska KVLT activities this year.

In April, Tuska KVLT will get off to a spectacular start with the Tuska KVLT Club in Helsinki. On Friday 5 April, Vansidian, Irrational Cause, and Abstrakt, who have impressed audiences at the Tuska KVLT Stage in previous years, will take to the stage at Bar Loose.

The exact show schedules will be announced later.
