As we prepare to unveil the results of the FemMetal Awards 2024, I can’t help but feel proud of the milestones we’ve reached. Since 2018, the FemMetal Awards have been at the heart of what we do—our sharpest and most effective tool to promote female musicians in Metal and Rock while fostering an empowering theme.
Personally, I have never viewed the FemMetal Awards as a competition, which is why we have done our best to reduce competitive pressures. One of the key changes we implemented was moving away from live category voting with visible results. Instead, we adopted a private voting system where participants fill out a form to express their opinions.
In the first year after this change, the total number of votes significantly decreased. However, this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. The number of attempts to game the system with multiple votes also dropped considerably, making the awards fairer and less competitive. This shift allowed us to add an exciting new dimension to the event, with more engaging announcements to reveal the winners.
Today—and possibly tomorrow, depending on time zones and logistics—we are thrilled to announce the winners of each category in the FemMetal Awards 2024. We’ll be joined by some of our cherished friends and musicians, whose contributions we deeply admire. In addition, we are excited to announce that this year, the number of advertisement spaces awarded to the top acts (not just the winners) has been increased to 25. The Top 25 will be revealed after all categories have been announced.
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to everyone who made this event as exciting and rewarding as it is. Thank you to our friends who lent their support and helped bring this celebration to life. A huge thank you to the fans who voted and showed such passion in supporting their favorite musicians and releases.
And, above all, the biggest thanks go to the musicians themselves—those who pour their hearts into creating the finest and most inspiring form of art: music. After all, we, the fans, are the real winners. Your songs, lyrics, and music videos are the true awards.
