Chicano goth pioneers Prayers and rising Mexican band Malcriada have joined forces on “Momento”, a powerful new track that blends the haunting spirit of cholo-goth with the raw fury of Mexico’s underground punk scene. The official music video is set to premiere this Tuesday, July 29, following weeks of anticipation sparked by a brief teaser.
Malcriada, an emerging band from Mexico known for their gritty sound, visceral lyrics, and provocative aesthetic, have long expressed their admiration for Prayers. In fact, this collaboration stems from a deep and growing appreciation: “Prayers are one of our biggest influences,” they’ve said in several interviews.
Prayers — founded by Rafael Reyes in San Diego — are widely recognized as the originators of cholo-goth, a genre that fuses darkwave, synth-punk, and Chicano culture into a unique, intensely personal musical identity.
“Momento” is more than just a collaboration; it’s a meeting of two powerful underground visions. It channels intensity, heritage, darkness, and a shared emotional language that transcends borders. The track is now available on all streaming platforms, while the official video will drop on Tuesday, July 29.
Don’t forget to follow both bands on social media to stay updated on their latest releases, projects, and upcoming live shows.
