Emerging from the industrial alleys of Berlin, William Bleak is one of the most compelling acts in the new wave of European post-punk and cold-wave. With an aesthetic that fuses the theatrical, grotesque, and visceral, the duo has steadily built a reputation in the underground scene for their intensity and visual presence.
Formed by William Bleak (vocals, guitar, production) and Adrian (bass), the project blends raw electronic beats, monolithic basslines, and razor-sharp guitars with lyrics steeped in emotional trauma, isolation, and longing. Over the past year, they’ve shared the stage with acts like Traitrs, Clan of Xymox, and Ductape, and have earned spots in renowned festivals such as Infest (UK) and NCN (Germany).
Now, William Bleak unveils their latest single: “Phantom Pain” — a deeply introspective and cathartic track that marks a turning point in their artistic path. Originally written in solitude, the song took on new meaning after the death of a former band member, transforming into an emotional elegy for a real and personal loss.
“Phantom Pain is about the sensation of still feeling something that’s no longer there. An open wound that never heals. It’s the most honest song we’ve written so far,” William shared via social media.
Released on July 17th, the track is available on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and all major streaming platforms. The minimalist cover art contrasts starkly with the emotional weight of the track. True to their style, the production is cold and industrial, while the worn, mournful vocals sink into a cycle of grief and memory.
With this release, William Bleak solidifies their place as one of the rawest and authentic forces in the new European post-punk scene. If you haven’t discovered them yet, now is the time to step into their world — brutal, honest, and devastatingly human.
