Terminal Serious Returns with Third Album «Tear You Away»

The Italian one-man project Terminal Serious, led by Florentine musician Luigi Buonaiuto, emerges from the shadows with the announcement of its third full-length album, «Tear You Away». Released via Swiss Dark Nights, the record marks a milestone in the project’s five-and-a-half-year journey, inviting listeners on an introspective exploration of darkwave, post-punk, and cold wave.

«Tear You Away» is the result of an intense creative process, representing Buonaiuto’s most mature work to date. The album delves into the complexities of daily life, confronting pride, shame, fear, and loneliness—emotions that “tear you away from serenity with explosive force”—yet ultimately offering a message of hope and rebirth.

Musically, the album signifies a clear evolution for Terminal Serious. While rooted in deep-voiced, sharp-guitared darkwave, this release introduces a distinct cold wave influence. Buonaiuto adopts a cleaner, more textural sound, replacing the traditional electric bass with Roland analog synthesizers to form the rhythmic backbone, adding new atmospheric depth. The guitars have shifted from constant overdrive to a refined and elegant tone, perfectly complementing the introspective and melancholic atmosphere.

Born in Florence in 2021, Terminal Serious arose after Buonaiuto transitioned from electro-rock to embrace the melancholy of darkwave. Following the acclaimed albums Love Was Lies (2021) and Fear And Cure (2024), Tear You Away solidifies his position as a vital and authentic voice in the Italian darkwave scene, inspired by both literary classics and the stories of everyday life.

Buonaiuto extends his gratitude to his publisher Valerio Lovecchio and collaborators for their support during the “long, complicated year” of creation, hoping that “all the heart and passion” poured into the album reaches those who listen.
