Finnish melodic death metal band Noumena has released a new single and accompanying music video titled “Tyhjyys.” The track serves as the third preview from the group’s forthcoming seventh studio album, Maanääri, which is officially scheduled to arrive later this summer in August. The new visual piece was conceptually developed and produced by guitarist Ville Lamminaho, continuing the group’s independent visual journey by weaving themes of emptiness and longing into a dark narrative where dreams are buried one by one.

Musically, the new track dives into a heavy world defined by uncertainty and loneliness, balancing fragile acoustic melodies with crushing guitar barrages. The song features complex arrangements utilizing three vocalists developed collaboratively in the rehearsal room, carrying an overwhelming weight of sorrow and fury. Thematically, the lyrics explore the search for a lost connection, with the initial acoustic riff born during a sleepless night of isolation before expanding into a relentless, driving metal composition.

Operating out of Ähtäri since 1998, Noumena has spent over 25 years blending Scandinavian death metal traditions with atmospheric Nordic melancholy. Across their six previous studio records, the group has consistently built a sound rooted in heavy riffs and emotional depth. The band has also established a strong international live presence, accumulating over 130 performances across Europe and Asia while sharing stages with prominent acts like Insomnium and Beast in Black as they prepare for the full arrival of Maanääri.
