Mortalis Releases Reimagined Thrash Metal Single “Split (2026)”

by | Aug 30, 2026

California thrash metal band Mortalis released a new reimagined single titled “Split (2026)” on August 28. The newly recorded track marks a significant turning point for the group as it serves as their first official release featuring new frontwoman Patience. Originally featured on their previous Earthworks extended play, the updated version captures a renewed sense of aggression and power. Thematically, the song serves as a seething battle cry exploring the internal conflict between rebellion and conformity, confronting the reality of watching individuals surrender the convictions they once fought for. The track was mixed and mastered by Raul Cueller at Riff Audio.

Operating out of La Puente, Mortalis initially formed in 2014 within the local backyard metal scene. The band builds their identity around the raw power and precision of classic thrash while refusing to remain trapped in the past. Drawing sonic inspiration from legendary acts like Metallica and Megadeth alongside modern influences such as Gojira and Power Trip, the group carries the spirit of heavy metal into a new generation. With Patience now stepping behind the microphone, Mortalis enters a ferocious new era defined by razor-sharp riffs, fierce vocals, and relentless live energy.

Being a feminist has been normalized as an irregularity through our patriarchal society, so I'd rather be called a "decent human" than a "feminist man". I breathe Metal and Rock and have a screwed-up sense of humour.
