Chaosbay is a progressive metalcore band from Germany, and we had the pleasure of chatting with them after their show at Wacken Open Air.

Benedetta

I’m here with the amazing Chaosbay. How are you doing, guys?

Chaosbay

Very good. We just finished our show and it was exciting.

Benedetta

So, you just played the 35th anniversary edition of Wacken Open Air. How does it feel?

Chaosbay

Very good, very good. It’s funny because our new single is called “How Does It Make You Feel?” And you just asked this question. It was very fun. The audience was nice, security was nice, everybody was nice. Nice show.

Benedetta

You have a lot of experience in playing live shows, but also you have experience in making music. Do you think that the life of an artist is a lonely life?

Chaosbay

It can be lonely at some point because when everybody else is partying and connecting to each other, we are the ones who are on stage entertaining those people. And when we are ready with the work, when the job is done, everybody else is already gone. But I think it depends on the situation. You are always with people even though you are working with them. And you can also use the time at work to have a good time. You can drink beer, you can talk to people, you can have fun. So, it’s a little bit of both.

Benedetta

Do you think that we will ever have some equality between men and women in the metal world?

Chaosbay

I think we will. And I hope we will even more. Because there is still a lot to do in this field. It depends very much on the festival booking side, I have to say. And also media and everyone has to promote being a female musician too. So, these two forces have to really get something going. I think we will reach that and I hope we will soon. I also see the potential in reaching equality. When it comes to music festivals and the production of a music festival and the kind of money that has to be made, I think we are still in the age of male dominance when it comes to selling tickets. But with the latest development and also the general zeitgeist, I think we are going to reach this goal. And it’s already happening.
