Canadian singer-songwriter LØLØ kicked off her headlining tour “God Forbid a Girl Goes on Tour” in Toronto, ON on Thursday, September 17th, with an absolute bang. The room was filled with not only fans, but friends and family as well, as this was a hometown show for the pop-rock artist. Making the evening even more special.

“Dear Diary” her voice is heard throughout the venue as her band steps out onstage. Introducing the show like a diary entry. “LØLØ the show is starting” another voice says, “oh shi…..” she exclaims as the band kicks into The Devil Wears Converse. Running out onto the stage, the crowd goes wild as LØLØ joins her band. The room was filled from top to bottom, The Opera House being the place to be that night.

The crowd sang along to every word as she continued the set with Pretty Little Wreck, God Forbid a Girl Spits Out Her Feelings! And Debbie Downer. Known for writing songs about her own experiences in life, love and relationships; fans easily relating to the words being sung.

Strapping on her acoustic guitar, she steps up to the mic. “Okay dad, cover your ears” she says cheekily. “I’ve got a question for you guys. Have you ever sent a naughty picture?” The crowd cheers. “Well I did once and I wrote a song about it.” Strumming the cords to the fan favourite Me With No Shirt On, the crowd immediately joined in as she sang the first line.

LØLØ’s energy was absolutely contagious, her stage presence completely captivating. It is absolutely clear that she loves what she does. “Back in 2020, like everyone else I was making dance videos on TikTok. They didn’t do very well because as you can tell, I’m not that great of a dancer,” the crowd chuckles. “One day I decided to do a cover of one of my favourite songs, Hey There Deliah by the Plain White T’s, but from Deliah’s perspective. The band ended up noticing it, Tom Higgenson liked it.” Cheers erupted throughout the venue. “Fast forward to now and I’ve re-recorded the song with them and we’re going to play it for you tonight.”

“Hey there Deliah, what’s it like…” she sang, before stopping. “You know it doesn’t sound right with me singing it after hearing Tom sing it. If only he were here to sing it with me. Oh wait, he is! Give it up for Tom from the Plain White T’s!” The crowd absolutely went wild as Tom Higgenson joined LØLØ onstage for a special performance of Hey There Deliah that had everyone singing. A surprise that’ll be remembered forever.

Lobotomy and U, Delusional Darling and the fan voted Hurt Less, continued the set. The energy of both the band and the audience never wavering. Toronto brought their best singing voices for this special show. Closing out the set with Dumbest Girl In The World, fans continued to cheer as they left the stage and the room went dark. Not quite ready for the night to be over.

LØLØ reamerged from the darkness as the stage lit up once again. Performing an acoustic version of Wish I Was a Robot before her band rejoined her onstage and then closed out the night with Hot Girls In Hell, another fan favourite. This show was the perfect way to kick off her headlining North American Tour, the room filled with the utmost love and respect. I’m sure this show will be a highlight for not only her fans, but for herself as well.
