Metal band Sicksense have released their brand new EP, Funerals. Arriving independently on September 25, the new collection of songs sees the band stepping away from their traditional nu metal roots. Instead, they are moving toward a heavier metalcore sound that incorporates elements of melodic prog and djent.

The EP features four distinct tracks that tackle a variety of heavy subjects. The opener “Artificial Irrelevance” focuses on the negative impacts of social media and the virtual world. Following that, “Newsflash” and “Seller’s Remorse” deal with societal pressures, the hypocrisy of others, and the consequences of toxic behavior. The project closes with “A Moment Of Violence,” a darker, piano driven track centered around grief and the struggle of losing loved ones.

Funerals was produced and engineered by Joey Doherty alongside vocalist Vicky Psarakis. The mixing was also handled by Doherty, with mastering completed by Tyler Smyth. The cover artwork for the new release was designed by Aleksandra Morozova.
