End of an Era: Floor Jansen and Nightwish Part Ways

by | Oct 15, 2026

Earlier today, Nightwish and Floor Jansen announced they are parting ways after 14 years together. The band and vocalist released a mutual statement confirming that they will move forward separately to pursue their own artistic goals. Nightwish is continuing as the band celebrates its 30th anniversary, with plans to enter the studio in 2027 to record a new album, while Floor Jansen is turning her full attention to her solo career and upcoming creative projects.

Jansen first joined Nightwish in late 2012 as a temporary touring vocalist during the Imaginaerum world tour, stepping in on short notice to complete the remaining dates. Her performances were quickly embraced by both audiences and the band, and she was officially announced as a permanent member in 2013. During her tenure, she fronted three studio albums: Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015), Human. :II: Nature. (2020), and Yesterwynde (2024). Her 14-year tenure with the group also included landmark live releases such as Showtime, Storytime and Vehicle of Spirit, further establishing her reputation as one of metal’s finest performers.

As this historic era comes to a close, Nightwish will move forward with a new album planned for 2027. Meanwhile, Jansen’s second solo album, Hytress, is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, and she will take the album on tour across Europe and South America.

As this chapter comes to an end, we at FemMetal wish both Nightwish and Floor Jansen the absolute best in their next chapters. Both leave behind an incredible legacy together, and we can look forward to hearing outstanding music from both sides for many years to come.
