Mystic Tea Party Release Debut Album “Slipstream” and New Music Video for “The Knife”

by | Oct 31, 2026

Melbourne-based alternative duo Mystic Tea Party have released their debut album, Slipstream, alongside a new music video for “The Knife.” The independent Australian act, who write, record, produce, and mix their music themselves, combine electronic influences with atmospheric guitars, heavy bass, and manipulated vocals. Their sound moves between alternative music, ambient textures, and electronic rhythms, reflecting the duo’s experimental approach to songwriting and production.

The album follows a series of singles that have attracted attention from Australian radio station triple j. “ANGELITE” was added to the triple j Unearthed playlist, the duo were selected for Unearthed Artist Spotlight, and “FLAME” received airplay on triple j. Their recent single “AIYO DAEA” combines a 140 BPM breakbeat with heavy bass, ambient guitars, and dreamy vocals. Vocalist and songwriter Blume, an intersex woman, also brings her perspective to the project, with the duo emphasizing the importance of greater representation for women in alternative music and production.
