RiotWeekend Announce Double A-Side Release “Days in December” and “Smile”

by | Nov 6, 2026

Guildford-based alternative rock band RiotWeekend have announced a double A-side release featuring “Days in December” and “Smile,” both scheduled for November 20, 2026, across major streaming platforms. Combining pop-punk influences with heavier alternative rock, the four-piece draw inspiration from bands including Paramore, Evanescence, Green Day, and A Day To Remember. The release follows the recent reissues of their singles “Never Again” and “Harry,” which received airplay on independent rock and metal radio stations.

“Days in December,” taken from the band’s sophomore EP, is a breakup ballad exploring the confusion and emotional difficulties of a long-distance separation. Written by vocalist Holly Nunn, the song originally began as a piano and vocal composition before developing into its current arrangement. It addresses the uncertainty of losing someone you love, questioning whether they have moved on, and gradually coming to terms with the relationship’s end.

“Smile” takes a heavier musical direction, featuring prominent guitars, bass, synthesizers, and contrasting soft and aggressive vocals. The song explores the frustration of watching a former partner find happiness with someone else while struggling to move forward. Both tracks were written by Holly Nunn, Rab McGowan, Salvatore Bertolene, and Tomma Moulard, recorded at Blackberry Studios, and mixed by Pete Maher.
