Modern metal band Sicksense has released a new single and accompanying music video for “Artificial Irrelevance.” The track arrives alongside the official announcement of the group’s forthcoming EP, Funerals, which is scheduled for release later this fall on September 25.
Thematically, the new single explores the duality between physical reality and virtual spaces, serving as a critique of modern internet culture, artificial intelligence in art, and the fabrication of online personas. To visually capture this concept, the accompanying music video contrasts extravagant, unrealistic character portrayals with a traditional live band performance filmed at the Nile Underground venue in Mesa, Arizona. Musically, the track was developed with producer Joey Doherty, blending the band’s signature mix of metalcore, nu metal, and djent with rap passages and heavy rhythmic structures.
Fronted by the vocal duo of Vicky Psarakis and Robby J. Fonts, Sicksense continues to forge ahead in their newly established independent era. Following their 2025 full-length album Cross Me Twice via Earache Records, the group returned to independent operations alongside a lineup featuring guitarist Jackson Snowden, bassist Richard Regier, and drummer Sam Neumann. “Artificial Irrelevance” serves as the third track on the upcoming four-song Funerals EP, following the earlier release of the project’s lead track, “Newsflash.”
