I love punk rock bands, so that’s why I had the opportunity to interview the German band Dritte Wahl about Wacken, women in metal and more.

Benedetta

I’m here with the amazing Dritte Wahl. How are you doing, guys?

Dritte Wahl

We are fine. It’s very hot outside.

Benedetta

So, you’re playing Wacken and this is the 35th anniversary of the festival. How does it feel to be here?

Dritte Wahl

It’s very nice to be here. The last time that we played here was 10 years ago, and the first time was in 1996. And, yeah, it was good to be back and without rain, this is a surprise. Yeah, it feels very good.

Benedetta

You have a lot of experience playing concerts, but you also have experience with making and recording music. Do you think that the life of an artist is a lonely life?

Dritte Wahl

No, no, I don’t think so. We are like a collective and we are together, nearly the same, I think.

Benedetta

Do you think that in the metal world we will have equality between men and women?

Dritte Wahl

I wish it was like this, but I don’t think it is like this. I think it starts to change, but I think that maybe we have some years to go. A lot of years. It’s a slow process. It’s a pity, but we can’t change these things that fast, I think.
