Alternative pop rock supergroup Carrie Okay released their debut single and accompanying lyric video titled “High in a Drugstore” on August 28. Formed by established singer songwriters LØLØ, salem ilese, and Alna, the new trio brings together their collective talent for a vulnerable and cathartic new track. The release was produced by Andrew Goldstein and channels the raw edge of the 1990s through a distinctly modern lens, pairing acoustic guitars with the tender and emotionally charged vocal harmonies of all three members.

Thematically, “High in a Drugstore” explores the disorienting aftermath of heartbreak and the strange places people end up when trying to escape an existential crisis. The song was originally written by the three artists to pitch to someone else, but they quickly realized the track was far too special to give away. Choosing instead to form their own girl band, Carrie Okay utilized this initial spark to create a fresh musical project built on their undeniable creative chemistry. The group is currently back in the studio working on more original music as they continue to develop this exciting new collaborative chapter.
