I had the opportunity to chat with Olli Violet from the Swedish Metal band, Pressure, who have recently released a new album, “In A Dark Heart We Trust”. A few weeks ago, we published a review about Pressure‘s new album, and now, we get to hear from the front-woman of the band herself about the new album and other things. Enjoy this interview with Pressure‘s co-vocalist, Olli Violet.
Hello, Olli. I’m really happy to chat with you. How are you doing today?
Hi, Mirk! I’m feeling really great, thank you!
This would be your second interview with FemMetal. Since your last interview, you released your album “In A Dark Heart We Trust”. How are you feeling about the way this album was received by your fans?
Every day we get a lot of good reviews, we get messages from our fans and friends. It is an indescribable feeling when you hear how our songs help people cope with the pressures of life, how our songs make them move forward, continue to love and believe in the best. Our Pressure family is growing and that makes us really happy!
Of course, you know from our review that we really enjoyed your album. If any of our readers haven’t checked your album yet, what would you tell them to expect to hear if they go check it out right now?
Yeah! We’re glad you liked the album! The peculiarity of our music is its versatility. And I’m not only talking about the different styles of heavy music we use, but also the vocal delivery, the guitar sound and the lyrics’ ideas. This time, for example, we decided to take one theme for the whole album and reveal its meaning from all possible sides. Relationships. It may be different, but there is no escape from it. And that’s why absolutely any listener will be able to find at least a couple of songs to like from this album.

“Angel Of Lightning”. The mood of this song can be summed up in one line from the chorus “Fire or flames melted metal in my veins”. This is a song with live energy, fast tempo, excellent guitars and a great vocal duet. Literally, everything Pressure is made of!
Which song from “In A Dark Heart We Trust” would you use to help a friend going through something to feel better?
This would definitely be a song called “Pressure”. In this song, we sing that no matter what troubles haunt you, we are always here to lend you a helping hand. You must remember that even if the Devil himself laughs behind your back, if the world fights around you, just call out our name!
If all the songs on “In A Dark Heart We Trust” came to life, which one would be your best friend?
“Just Undress”! This is one of my favorite songs from the album. It combines a lot of emotions: anxiety, seduction, anger, and flirting. Sounds like a normal day in a girl’s life lol! In this song, I see a reflection of a tiny hidden part of me. And I could only tell my secret to my best friend.
An archaeologist in the year 3022 discovers a “In A Dark Heart We Trust” CD in the ruins of an old vehicle. Which song would the futuristic archaeologist like best?
I can’t imagine what the situation will be like on earth in 3022, but I hope we can breathe the “Air of Freedom”. The song is about a new beginning and can be interpreted in different ways: from relationships between people to relationships in society and politics. I hope by this time we will live in a better world.
Which song from “In A Dark Heart We Trust” would you use to fight back against a horde of invading aliens from outer space with advanced technology but a weakness that makes their brains explode when they hear heavy music?
“No More Promises To Break”! This one is the heaviest song on this album and this sound would definitely help us win this battle. Even my brain explodes when I hear it hahah! But maybe I’m an alien? Hmm…

What is next for Pressure? Will there be a tour or some live performances anywhere?
We still have a couple of surprises left for our fans, we will tell you about it very soon. And of course, we are preparing to tour in support of our new album, so stay tuned!
That’s great news! Have you ever faced any kind of sexism in your professional or personal life? How would you deal with sexist behaviour and what advice would you give young people around the world who face any kind of discrimination?
I was lucky enough not to encounter such an attitude along the way or I think I just tried to keep my distance and protect myself from toxic people. Our differences are a blessing and a curse at the same time, but this is precisely our beauty and strength. And I urge all of you not to tolerate a disrespectful attitude towards yourself, in whatever form it manifests itself. And you don’t have to go through this alone. There are a lot of people around ready to help. Always stand your ground and be yourself.
