The kick-ass German Metal band, April Art, will be releasing an enhanced version of their album “Pokerface” which was released earlier this year! The deluxe edition of Pokerface will be out on September 30th.
BY THE WAY! April Art just released their music video for the song “Try”. Click here to watch
We had the pleasure to chat with Lisa-Marie, the vocalist of April Art, and ask her about her music, upcoming deluxe album, and her thoughts on many other things. ENJOY!
Hello, Lisa. It’s lovely to chat with you. How are you and the rest of April Art doing today?
Hi! We’re doing great! We are just releasing our new album POKERFACE as a deluxe version and that’s always an exciting time!
That’s lovely to hear! What will the deluxe version add to the original release?
On the deluxe version will be 3 further songs: Our last single Headline, the brand new single Try and the song Leave It Behind. Also, the cover is a bit different. The face of my alter ego will be seen even more.
How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard April Art’s music before?
April Art are modern metal with catchy hooks, crisp electro sounds and a good portion of banging. We combine hip-hop elements and rap with my rough vocals. On stage, it’s a wild red firework! 😀
That’s a great way to put it. If you were to pick one song from “Pokerface” to be played on every radio and every station all over the world, which song would you pick and why?
Oh that’s a tough question! I love the album so much! When we made the decision for the singles, it was already not easy, but to decide on just one song? Hmm… I think I would pick Headline! The message of this song is so strong, it gives so much courage. On the one hand, it tells you that nothing is forever, but exactly therein lies the huge opportunity. When you realize that, you realize that only you are responsible for your life and only you can write the next headline in your life.
In order to get to know you better and from a different point of view, how about playing some imagination game? I will set a scenario in an alternate universe with new rules and see how you’d react to the different situations. Ready?
OK 😀
In a universe where you are made the queen of a country, what would be the first law you’d make?
Stop giving kids grades in school. I think if we would stop putting pressure on the youngest in our society and comparing them with others and instead start developing their talents and creativity, we would have less hate in the world. That’s why it is so important to me to encourage people to believe in themselves and their dreams.
I love this law! In a universe where humans can choose either to be able to teleport from one place to another or travel back and forth in time, which superpower would you pick?
I would definitely choose to be able to teleport from one place to another! In a lot of movies, we’ve learned that it’s absolutely no good idea to run through time! 😀
In a universe where you’re the statue of liberty, what object would you be holding instead of a torch?
I would also hold a torch in my hand! It would be so great if each person discovers his own torch or his own light and brings that light to shine!
In a universe where money does not exist, but instead, people pay for things by making other people laugh, how rich would you be considered?
As very rich! I am a very silly person and fool around! Don’t take life too serious.
In a universe where the senses of taste and hearing are mixed up together, what food would you imagine April Art’s music would taste like?
Like a crisp fresh little sour apple!
In a universe where making magic is real, what would your favourite spell do?
Clean up! I’m really not good at cleaning the house and I don’t like it at all! 😀
Thank you for playing, Lisa! I hope you enjoyed this!
You have been on a tour around Europe lately. What was your favourite city and venue you visited on this tour?
I think the Teatro Barceló in Madrid was very special. It is located in the middle of the city center and you have to go 3 floors underground! We had to drag all our stuff down the stairs, but the atmosphere was outstanding!
Have you ever faced any kind of sexism in your professional or personal life? How would you deal with sexist behaviour and what advice would you give young people around the world who face any kind of discrimination?
I think as a woman in general, but also especially in the music business, you can’t avoid making your experiences with it. The most important thing is to not let it get you down and to raise your voice. Depending on the situation you’re in, it’s never wrong to ask for help. There are people who believe for some reason, usually from a position, to be allowed to do things. This is wrong and you can also show them quite openly!
Thank you for giving us this interview, Lisa. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
