Hello Aïcha! It’s nice to chat with you. How are you doing?

Aïcha Finnleikr

Hello Reuel! I am doing great and hope you are doing well!

Reuel

You have recently released your debut single “The Seeker”. How do you feel about how people and the media reacted to the single?

The overall reaction to “The Seeker” has been awesome. I appreciate how kind people have been with their words in describing how much they’ve enjoyed the track and am also greatly appreciative of the many people that have followed the band’s social media pages.

Reuel

Sounds amazing! Releasing the debut single is a huge milestone for any band. What comes next for Burial Path?

Aïcha Finnleikr

Reuel

We plan to continue releasing a few more songs before the end of the year and hope to continue making great impacts with each release.

Brilliant. Good luck! If any of our readers haven’t had the chance to listen to “The Seeker” yet, what would you tell them to expect to hear if they click the link below and listen?

Aïcha Finnleikr

Listeners can expect to hear remnants of MySpace era Deathcore in the rhythm section and driving leads. Post-production was added to give a slightly modernized sound, and an impactful atmosphere. Lyrically the song is cryptic and yet extremely vulnerable. The vocals are performed in a way that helps to convey the depth of emotion behind the lyrics.

Reuel

Sounds exciting! Let’s talk a little about your personal music background. Who are some of your biggest musical influences and why?

Aïcha Finnleikr

Vocally, I feel that I have been most influenced by Chelsea Grin’s “My Damnation” album, Oceano, and Motionless In White’s “Creatures” album. These were bands and albums that I listened to when I was younger and practiced vocals to their songs in hopes of one day becoming a vocalist.

Reuel

Was there a particular moment or experience that made you decide to pursue music seriously?

Aïcha Finnleikr

There were many and often, it was simply being at a concert and feeling moved by the whole experience. I loved how it felt to be in the crowd experiencing music that an artist/ musician put so much time, energy, and emotion into. I was always in awe of how much they put into their performances and knew, at some point, that I wanted to be on the opposite side of that experience where I would be the musician sharing with others an art that I had poured myself into.

Reuel

What are your thoughts on the representation of women in the music industry as a whole, and specifically within the Metal genre?

Aïcha Finnleikr

It’s amazing to see so many talented women in the music industry. Specifically in Metal, the genre continues to grow in showcasing talents of female guitarists, vocalists, bassists, drummers, pianists, etc.

Reuel

Thank you for the interview, Aïcha. Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Aïcha Finnleikr

Thank you for the interview! We hope you all continue to follow Burial Path as we release our next singles and work towards the release of a full EP.

Being a feminist has been normalized as an irregularity through our patriarchal society, so I'd rather be called a "decent human" than a "feminist man". I breathe Metal and Rock and have a screwed-up sense of humour.
