I had the chance to chat with Martina Pellegrino, vocalist of the Italian Metal band, Blessed Aura, a young band with a lot of potential. And you can see that from their debut single “Whisper”. As we wait for their future work, let’s get to know Martina and her band in this exciting interview!
Reuel
Hello Martina! I’m happy to chat with you. How are you and the rest of Blessed Aura doing?
Martina
Hi! I’m fine, thanks for asking. The band is doing good! We’re working so much behind the scenes, a brand new song is almost ready and we’re going to announce new gig dates as well. We cannot wait to play live again and spread our music as far as we can.
Reuel
Amazing! You released your debut single “Whispers” at the very end of 2024. What can you say about the reaction this song received so far?
Martina
The support we received for our first single was totally unexpected. We also reached various parts of the world such and Finland, Sweden, Japan etc.. and that got us so emotional. We want to thank everyone who spent three minutes of their life to give us a chance.
Reuel
How would you describe the style of music Blessed Aura makes?
Martina
We are still trying to define it better, since each member brings a variety of influences. But if I have to place our music in a sub-genre I would put it into alternative metal.
Reuel
Are you preparing for any new releases in 2025?
Martina
Of course! As I said, we are working so much on our music and we are trying our best to improve the quality of our songs. Our main goal is to reach as many people as possible and give them a safe place in which they could find refuge from their sorrow.
Reuel
Which musicians influenced you the most while growing up and inspired you to become an artist?
Martina
When I was younger I used to listen to a lot of music with my mom. She has always had various genres and subgenres in her playlist so I started to be passionate about Jazz, Rock, Blues etc… One of her favourite singers is Diane Shuur and when I heard her voice for the first time I was astonished. So she is mainly one of the artists who transmitted me the passion for music and since then I practised for years and got attached to music in a bone-deep way.
Reuel
Amazing! If you could perform a duet with one vocalist, dead or alive, who would choose, and why?
Martina
That’s a great question! I would love to perform a duet with Adam Gontier or Tatiana Shmayluk.

Reuel
Oh wow! Nice choices. How do you see the representation of women in heavy music today, and what more can be done to promote inclusivity and support for female musicians?
Martina
I see the representation of women in heavy music more accepted actually. Despite there is still the belief that women are not suitable for this genre, I see a lot of female-fronted bands that are achieving amazing results. So keep going girls, you are all doing a great job!
Reuel
Thank you for your time and this interview, Martina! Is there anything you’d like to add before we wrap up?
Martina
No I don’t, you asked me many interesting and stimulating questions, so thank you for this great opportunity, it was a pleasure for me!
