Are you ready to head to the Sunset Boulevard? If you love hard rock, “Joker in the Pack” will transport you to 1980s Los Angeles.
I’m talking about Hell in the Club, an Italian hard rock band founded in 2009 by Andy Buratto (Secret Sphere), Dave Moras (Elvenking) and Andrea Picardi.
This is their seventh album and represents a new beginning for the band, which, after the departure of singer and founder Dave, has embarked on a new path. Andy has an idea… why not a female singer?
The idea takes shape and the choice falls on Tezzi Persson, the Swedish voice of Venus 5 and Infinite & Divine.
The choice proves to be spot on, Tezzi has an incredible voice… powerful, edgy, perfect for the genre, and she immediately clicks with the band. On stage, she has an energy that engages the audience and the band itself. She is a true animal on stage who takes the show to the highest levels. It is no easy task to replace Dave, but she has succeeded, immediately winning the hearts of the fans with great naturalness.
“Joker in the Pack” is pure adrenaline, ten tracks of great rock ‘n’ roll.
It starts with “The Devil Won’t Forget Me“, which immediately makes it clear what we can expect: sharp guitars, a killer rhythm section and Tezzi’s gritty, powerful voice.
“New Desire” transports us to the magical sounds of the 80s with scratchy riffs and choruses that take us back to the past.
“Dirty Love” is another great tribute to those times, immediate and with choruses that get into your head and never leave.
“Robert the Doll” is based on a story from Northern Europe, obviously the lyrics are by Tezzi, my Angel of Hell (editor’s note).
“Fairytale” has a spine-tingling intro, then Tezzi’s voice takes over and the song made me jump out of my chair. Definitely one of my favourite tracks.
“The Ocean” is a beautiful ballad, delicate yet powerful, with a beautiful solo by Andrea Picardi and Tezzi’s voice, which I think is at its best in this piece.
“Magnetars” takes us straight back to the sunset in a convertible with the music blaring, as does “Pretty Little Freak Show“, with Mark Lazzarini’s drums driving the song forward with an obsessive rhythm.
“Out in the Distance” starts with a lot of pathos and grows more and more with Andrea Picardi’s solos, the great protagonists of this song.
And we come to the end with “When The Vell of Night Falls“, a track where the band makes it clear, if ever there was any need, just how talented they are, with excellent rhythm changes, awesome guitars and the voice of my Angel of Hell, powerful and gritty as only she can be.
All in all, a crazy album, very well produced and mastered by the spectacular Simone Mularoni of Domination Studio and distributed by the ever-excellent Frontiers Records.
The album will be released on November 7th and the release show will be held that same evening, which promises to be a great event given the presence of many international guests. The show will be held at the Slaugher Club in Paderno Dugnano, just outside Milan. If you are in the area, it is absolutely not to be missed, but if you are far away… what better opportunity to take a trip around our beautiful country?!
