Alternative metal band Glasgow Kiss will release their debut album on December 12, 2025. Ahead of the big day, the Norwegian group dropped their single “Those Wasted Years” along with a music video (linked below). We had the pleasure of speaking with Charlotte Marlen Midtun about the upcoming album, her vocal approach, and her musical background.
Reuel
Hello Charlotte! I’m happy to chat with you. How are you doing?
Charlotte
Hi, I’m very good thank you, nice to meet you.
Reuel
Glasgow Kiss will release their debut album this December. How excited are you about this important milestone being reached?
Charlotte
I’m incredibly excited about the release of our debut album this December. It’s been a journey filled with hard work, creativity, and a lot of passion. This milestone means so much to me and the band, it’s not just about the music we’ve created but also about the experiences we’ve shared as a team. I can’t wait for our fans to finally hear what we’ve poured our hearts into, and I hope it resonates with them just as much as it does with us.
Reuel
Your fans have already had a taste of Down In Flames through the single “Those Wasted Years”. How did you feel about the reaction of your fans towards the song and the music video?
Charlotte
The reaction to ‘Those Wasted Years’ has been absolutely amazing! I was genuinely moved by how our fans connected with the song and the music video. It feels incredible to hear people share their interpretations and emotions related to our work. Knowing that our music can resonate with others in such a meaningful way makes all the hard work worth it. I’m really grateful for their support and can’t wait to see how they respond to the rest of the album.
Reuel
Down In Flames deals with many different and personal themes related to human emotions and experiences.. How did you reflect these emotions and feelings through your vocals?
Charlotte
Reflecting the emotional themes of ‘Down In Flames’ through my vocals was both challenging and rewarding. I aimed to channel my own experiences and emotions into every note and lyric. I wanted to create an authentic connection with our listeners. It’s all about creating a shared experience where listeners can feel what I feel, and I hope that comes across in every track.
Reuel
Well, this worked amazingly! Can you tell us a little about your musical background? What musicians had the most influence on you growing up and inspired you to become an artist yourself?
Charlotte
I have a rich musical background that started with classic pop in my childhood. I was really into incredible singers like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston. As I entered my teen years, I shifted toward rock music and was influenced by powerful vocalists like Ann Wilson, Lzzy Hale, and Pat Benatar. Their fearless performances inspired me to embrace my own voice and express myself authentically. Each of these artists contributed to my journey as a vocalist, and I aim to capture that same passion in my work today.
Reuel
Is there a particular song on the album that you’re especially curious to see how people react to?
Charlotte
I’m curious about the song ‘One Last Time.’ It’s a powerful ballad inspired by my best friend who passed away from cancer. This deeply personal song reflects my emotions, and I hope others connect with the story behind the lyrics.
Reuel
I can’t wait to hear it. How do you feel about the representation of women in heavy music today, and what do you think can be done to promote more inclusivity and support for female musicians?
Charlotte
Representation has gotten better, but there’s still work to do. Women in heavy music deserve the same respect and visibility as anyone else. The best way to support is by booking, promoting and encouraging more female artists and showing the next generation they belong here.
Reuel
Thank you for your time, Charlotte, and for this interview! Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Charlotte
Thanks for your time and to everyone who listens and supports us. It means everything. We’re just getting started, and there’s more to come.
