Then Comes Silence Unveil “Bye Bye Land,” the Final Preview of Requiem Ballroom

by | Oct 28, 2026

Swedish post-punk trio Then Comes Silence have unveiled “Bye Bye Land,” the third single from their forthcoming album, Requiem Ballroom, due November 20, 2026, via Metropolis Records.

The deeply personal track explores the helplessness of watching someone close struggle with trauma and suicidal thoughts. Written by vocalist and bassist Alex Svenson as a message to a dear friend, “Bye Bye Land” serves as a powerful reminder of the value of life, the importance of human connection, and the hope of finding a reason to carry on.

Svenson explains that the song grew out of his gratitude that his friend is still here and his desire to remind him how much he means to those around him. Rather than claiming to fully understand his friend’s suffering, the musician seeks to offer a message of connection, compassion, and hope.

Musically, the single retains the band’s signature blend of dark atmospheres, driving rhythms, razor-sharp hooks, and unmistakable gothic intensity.

The forthcoming release marks Then Comes Silence’s eighth studio album, following Trickery (2024) and Hunger (2022). The record is divided into two distinct parts, “Ballroom” and “Requiem,” creating a conceptual journey between light and darkness.

Produced by Alex Svenson, the album features two different mixing approaches. Jon Bordon handled the “Ballroom” half, while Tom van Heesch, whose credits include Rammstein, Apocalyptica, and Backyard Babies, mixed “Requiem.” Mastering was completed by Svante Forsbäck.

“Bye Bye Land” follows “Judgement Day,” a driving celebration of living without regrets, and “Remaker Redeemer,” which explores death, rebirth, and the possibility of transformation. Together, the three singles offer a glimpse of an album that combines the intensity of gothic rock with the energy of contemporary post-punk.

Formed in Stockholm in 2012 by Alex Svenson, Then Comes Silence currently feature Jonas Fransson on drums and Hugo Zombie on guitar. Over the years, the band have built an international following through their releases and relentless touring.

Their live history includes sharing stages with The Chameleons, Clan of Xymox, Fields of the Nephilim, Pink Turns Blue, and A Place To Bury Strangers. They have also appeared at major European alternative festivals, including Wave-Gotik-Treffen, M’era Luna, and Amphi Festival.

“Bye Bye Land” is available worldwide from October 16, 2026. The full album, Requiem Ballroom, arrives November 20 via Metropolis Records.
