Rock musician Pryti will be releasing a new album on November 11th. The album will be named: “Searching for Now Lost In Again”. The British-Indian musician has also just dropped a new song “Teardrops” that will be featured on her upcoming album.

I had the chance to chat with Pryti, and ask her about her music and thoughts on different matters. Enjoy this interview with Pryti!

Hello, Pryti. It’s really great to chat with you. How are you doing today?
I’m good, thank you. I hope you are too.
Thank you! 2022 has been a busy year for you! You most recently released your new single “Wasteland” only a few days ago, and you also released singles and music videos for “Archive” and “Warning Sign” earlier thing year. Is there a plan for a bigger release anytime soon?
Yes! My album Searching For Now, Lost In Again is coming out 11 November.
That’s wonderful news! Can’t wait to hear it. How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard your music before?
It’s a real mixture of rock, metal, alternative, indie electronica and pop.
In order to get to know you better and from a different point of view, how about playing some imagination game? I will set a scenario in an alternate universe with new rules and see how you’d react to the different situations. Ready?
Let’s do it.
In a universe where you are made the queen of a country, what would be the first law you’d make?
That no one should go hungry
In a universe where humans can choose either to be able to teleport from one place to another or travel back and forth in time, which superpower would you pick?
Oooh travel back and forth in time that would be awesome.
In a universe where you’re the statue of liberty, what object would you be holding instead of a torch?
My iPhone it’s always in my hand.
In a universe where money does not exist, but instead, people pay for things by making other people laugh, how rich would you be considered?
Very rich my cuteness knows no bounds.
hahaha! In a universe where the senses of taste and hearing are mixed up together, what food would you imagine Pryti’s music would taste like?
Chola Bhature! It’s flavourful, packs a punch and is comforting.
In a universe where making magic is real, what would your favourite spell do?
Get rid of acne.
Thank you for playing, Pryti! I hope you enjoyed this! We live in an era where social media became essential for musicians to reach fans and promote their music. In your opinion, what are the cons and pros of social media having all that power in the music industry?
A big con would be the royalties artists get. If you’re an unsigned or an independent artist, doing everything by yourself it’s not feasible. Things take time to grow, overnight success is a rarity. A pro would be that your music has the opportunity to go viral but that’s a con too. Now it’s an industry standard ‘has your song gone viral on TikTok?’ Everybody is trying to do the same thing, you have to make a lot of content on various platforms. It’s not sustainable. Algorithms can be a great thing you can find your tribe but what happens when it’s tweaked will people see your content anymore. Social media companies have changed the music industry. Money was able to be made again but it’s important to have balance, quest for profits shouldn’t mean devaluing music.
That’s a brilliant overview. Have you ever faced any kind of sexism in your professional or personal life? How would you deal with sexist behaviour and what advice would you give young people around the world who face any kind of discrimination?
I’ve had small things. Once a fan said I should look more straight on in one of my music videos that wouldn’t happen if I was a man. Oh, the amount of times people are shocked that I’m a rock/metal musician. I’ve been looked up and down before they say ‘really you don’t look like you’re into metal’ it gets old quick. I don’t know how I would deal with sexism until I face a particular situation at a given time. My advice is to keep going, prove them wrong and we have to change the stereotypes.
Brilliant again! Thank you for giving us this interview, Pryti. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you for having me make sure to listen to the album and tell all your friends.
