Of all the celebrations during the year, I think the most “metal” one has to be Halloween. Witches, zombies, vampires, creatures of the night that roam everywhere uncontrolled… if this isn’t metal, then what is? And for our readers, we have decided to compile a list of 10 songs in pure Halloween style, but as usual with our FemMetal touch. Everyone knows the Phantom of the Opera by Nightiwsh or Helloween by Helloween… but how about these? Let us know your favourite!

10. We Own The Night – Amoth

Right from the title, you can guess that this track will create an incredible atmosphere, haunting and warning the listener…

“Dance your last steps now

For soon you will be taken

For the ride of your life

There’s no turning back

What’s been awoken

Will never sway from its path…”

9. Liber Fortitudinis – After Evolution

Who says symphonic metal can’t be spooky? You probably haven’t listened to this outstanding track by After Evolution… Get ready to run!

In the wood of endless secrets
In the deepest silence
Halfway into nothingness and
Half way i’m tarnationed
Finding lost deliverance
Alongside with the evil
…”

8. Casanova – Red Masquerade

Don’t be misled by the title of this bewitching song: it is about lust and a dark environment. Halloween is not only for the body but for the mind as well…

“Now the last light burnt out

The night is coming into your heart

You are alone with your soul

I’ll watch this theatre

Like I’m not staying here…”

7. Spell on You – Madame Neptune

Be careful, reader, because this next song can be very enchanting. You will find it powerful and witch-y…

Chasing the fears

Your tears

Under the moon

(I put a spell on you)

I cast a spell

Under the moon…”

6. Spoilt Vampire – Diabulus in Musica

It can’t be Halloween without vampires, and this masterpiece by Diabulus in Musica is a perfect match of haunting and magical creatures…

Spoilt vampire
From blind prey to deaf victim
You build your bright fate
Spoilt vampire
Our paths are divided
Our rage is our guide…”

5. Spell – Cadaveria

Could I make a list about Halloween and leave out black metal? Let’s be honest, of course not! And this fits perfectly the mood….

Beautiful witch, beautiful witch

Give light to this black muddy sky

Snatch darkness from these hours

Devoid of evening and morning

Devoid of stars

4. Negra Noche – Astray Valley

Halloween is a dark night indeed, and this incredible band from Spain is capable of evoking a staggering atmosphere with this track.

Hide, I can’t see

Beyond all the voices residing in me

Dreams of a crazy man, deviant lamb

Unspoken the words of the madness inside.

3. Sally’s Song – Eternia

I had to include in this list this classic Halloween song, originally from the Tim Burton movie. This rendition is going to blow your mind!

What will become of my dear friend
Where will his actions lead us then
Although I’d like to join the crowd
In their enthusiastic cloud
Try as I may, it doesn’t last

2. Sonne – MoonSun

Rammstein may have composed this song, but it’s MoonSun that made it perfect for Halloween. Enjoy the madness of the video, too!

Die Sonne scheint mir aus den Händen

Kann verbrennen, kann euch blenden

Wenn sie aus den Fäusten bricht

Legt sich heiß auf das Gesicht

Sie wird heute Nacht nicht untergehen

Und die Welt zählt laut bis zehn…”

1. Danse Macabre – Holy Shire

As the band stated during their Halloween live show last year, this is the ultimate track for the most frightening time of the year.

“Life is a tragic joke

Laugh while you look

Death in the eyes

The black lady is dressed out of your shadow…”

Benedetta Baldin

Hi! My name is Benedetta, I’m 29 and I live in Northern Italy. My passion has always been music: I started taking guitar lessons when I was 6. Now I work as a sales representative, but in my free time I interview talented people, I spread the word about my favorite band (MoonSun), and I go to concerts or travel around Europe. I am a huge collector of anything Tolkien-related, autographs, merchandise, and CDs. I am quite an original person and don’t mind being the voice outside of the choir (even though I play in the church’s choir!).
