It is only fair and right to recognize and praise talent, and even more so when the talented person is an old friend of mine. I have known Rehn Stillnight for quite some years, and every time she performs, Silvio and I are going to be in the audience, supporting her in all the ways we can. And on Saturday, November 26th, she performed an acoustic set at the Games Week fair in Milan.

She wasn’t going to perform with some backing tracks or band, though: to accompany her, the one and only Federico Mondelli, who is her bandmate in Nocturna. Their set, scheduled at 13:00, actually started 10mins later, but we didn’t mind. The fair was crowded, and the event was sold out, so you can imagine how many people were passing through the La Fortezza stand to witness this unique event. Rehn has delighted us with some videogames soundtracks covers like “The Dragonborn Comes” and “The Wolven Storm“, some metal classics like “Ever Dream” by Nightwish and “The Bard’s Song” by Blind Guardian, and even a couple of Nocturna’s own songs.

She was joined on stage by Giada Etro, and the whole vibe of the set was just ethereal. Her voice is so crystal and pleasing to listen to; time literally flies when she’s singing. Unfortunately, though, they couldn’t play for the whole day, and their performance ended with “The Trickster“, with Giada singing Grace’s part duetting with Rehn. What an absolute delight it was to be there in a special environment, not so usual for metal artists! The photos are, as usual, by Silvio Colombo.

Benedetta Baldin

Hi! My name is Benedetta, I’m 29 and I live in Northern Italy. My passion has always been music: I started taking guitar lessons when I was 6. Now I work as a sales representative, but in my free time I interview talented people, I spread the word about my favorite band (MoonSun), and I go to concerts or travel around Europe. I am a huge collector of anything Tolkien-related, autographs, merchandise, and CDs. I am quite an original person and don’t mind being the voice outside of the choir (even though I play in the church’s choir!).
