On the 15th of September, LA-based Rock/Metal musician released her new single “Serpent”, with a music video. Once again, Lexi Layne put her talent on full display with the new song that is paving the way for her upcoming album which will be released in 2024.

“Serpent” begins with heavy drums and distorted guitars before it seamlessly transitions into a softer, more delicate passage, as the lyrics describe brilliantly in a figuratively rich verse a melancholic state, using metaphors and similes related to serpents. As the verse progresses, tension in both the lyrics and music grows, to give way to a thunderous eruption of sound, characterized by roaring electric guitars, pounding drums, and powerful vocals in the chorus.

The second verse of “Serpent” repeats the same progression, until the chorus is completed and the music becomes even heavier, with thunderous guitars and powerful growls full of emotions. Then, a touch of contrast as the chorus is repeated in a much calmer, clearer and softer tone in both vocals and music to take a brilliant single home.

“Serpent” is a song that leaves a lasting impression with its compelling blend of profound, descriptive lyrics, stunning heavy music, and its diverse range of heaviness. It’s a standout piece of artistry that I thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to more from Lexi Layne!

Being a feminist has been normalized as an irregularity through our patriarchal society, so I'd rather be called a "decent human" than a "feminist man". I breathe Metal and Rock and have a screwed-up sense of humour.
