Runika – a band featuring a charismatic female vocalist, playing folk-inspired melodies with a rock and metal edge. On stage, they blend mysticism with the energy of the four elements, transporting listeners to a time of epic battles, lavish feasts by the Midsummer bonfire, secrets enchanted within statues, and extraordinary creatures lurking in the depths of the forest.
The band has been active since 2014 and performs original songs whose lyrics are inspired by folk tales and legends from across Poland, Slavic and Germanic mythology, and fantasy literature. Their music blends a variety of genres, such as folk, gothic, power metal and classic rock.
In 2018, the band released their debut album, Pradawna moc, and in 2023 their second album, Między światami, was released.
Velesar is a Polish folk metal band and one of the best-known Polish representatives of the genre, deeply rooted in Slavic history and culture. Winners of first place in the ‘Wirtualne Gęśle’ poll for folk album of the year for their album ‘Szczodre Gody’ (2022) and second place in the same competition for their album ‘Pogorzelisko’ (2025).
The band was founded in Cieszyn in 2018 (initially as a solo project) by Marcin Velesar Wieczorek – former vocalist of the bands Goddess of Sin (2001–2007) and Radogost (2010–2014), as well as the founder of the band River of Time (2014–2018). It was born out of a fascination with Slavic culture and history, and a passion for both metal and folk music.
It draws its main inspiration from Slavic mythology, ancient beliefs and rituals, as well as from fairy tales and legends that are remnants of the rich cultural heritage of the ancient Slavs.
Merkfolk was formed in early 2013 on the initiative of siblings Irmina and Rafał. The band has been performing regularly since November 2013. They have performed, amongst others, at the National Folk Metal Fans’ Gatherings, the Ragnard Rock Festival (France), the Kalevala Polish Tour, and the Hellhammer Festival (Czech Republic).
They have had the opportunity to share the stage with Percival Schuttenbach, Kalevala, Welicoruss, Arkona, Primordial, Nokturnal Mortum, Wardruna, Skiltron, The Moon and the Night Spirit, Nine Treasures and others.
The band’s name, loosely translated (from Norwegian), means ‘bearer of folk’. Merkfolk’s songs feature catchy melodies played on the accordion and violin, combined with heavy guitar and drum sounds, all enhanced by female growls.
Hi! My name is Benedetta, I’m 29 and I live in Northern Italy. My passion has always been music: I started taking guitar lessons when I was 6. Now I work as a sales representative, but in my free time I interview talented people, I spread the word about my favorite band (MoonSun), and I go to concerts or travel around Europe.
I am a huge collector of anything Tolkien-related, autographs, merchandise, and CDs. I am quite an original person and don’t mind being the voice outside of the choir (even though I play in the church’s choir!).
