We had the chance to interview Jess Kasprzyk, vocalist of Rock band, The Villainz. The French band have recently released an album entitled ‘Sexy & Arrogant’. We were pleased to chat with Jess about her band’s music, plans, and get to know her better. Enjoy this interview!

Interview

Hello Jess! How are you and the other Villainz doing at the moment?
Hello, we’re all fine, thanks! We’re in good health, that’s all that matters. We obviously miss the stage and gigs, but that allows us more time for creating and working on other projects. I’m also six months pregnant, so a new VZ member is coming up! LOL
Wow congratulations! You must be so excited.
How would you introduce your band ‘The VillainZ’ to our readers who are learning about you for the first time?
The VillainZ : 2 motherfuckers (me & my husband Nic) playing rock and getting drunk in pubs (that sentence sounded nice until the lockdown and pregnancy LOL). We share the stage and arrangements of our songs with 2 little sluts named Tom (bass) and Kris (drums). They like and lick each other! We all listen to many kinds of music and each one gives a special touch to the songs. Our gigs are intended to be fun and crazy, we try not only to play music but share an experience with our audience, often flirting with censorship but always in a friendly way.
Well that must be the most interesting band introduction we’ve ever received.
You recently released a new single and music video, Kill the Light, from your latest album ‘Sexy & Arrogant’. How are you feeling about the way your fans reacted to the music video?
Our fans looooooved it! The clip sticks to us, sensual, sexy and arrogant! And by the way I got pregnant during the making of it, while me and Nic were doing the love scene LOL. “Kill the light” is apart from the rest of the album, and one can feel the vibes of the 80’s with a touch of electro rock.
Well this interview is already amazing, but, to get our readers to know you better and from a different point of view, how about we play a little imagination game? I will give you a scenario in an alternate universe and you’d have to react. Let’s go!

In a universe where your life is a series on Netflix, what would that series most likely be?
I can’t think of any Netflix series that match with us. I’d rather say Californication, Banshee or Six Feet Under (when it comes to me, as I run a funeral home).
In a universe where the senses of taste and hearing are mixed up, what would ‘Sexy & Arrogant’ taste like?
It would taste like a sweet and sour exotic plate: some chicken mixed with pineapple and ginger.
In a universe where the currency used is the person’s sense of humour, how rich would you be?
We’d be millionaires LOL! Humour is part of our lives. I can’t quantify the amount of shit we tell people everyday…
In a universe where you’re the Statue of Liberty, but instead of a torch you’re holding an object that is associated with your personality, what would the statue-you be holding?
A dildo and a bottle of Jim Beam Maple!
In a universe where you are a stand-up comedian instead of a musician, what would be a signature joke you’d tell?
I rather say crap for fun than jokes and my fav reply is “He/she would make a wig out of his/her ass hair” (when talking about someone who makes a big deal out of nothing).
Thank you for playing, Jess!
Have you ever been treated in a sexist way? How would you face sexism and what advice would you give to young people who face any kind of discrimination?
I don’t really care, I live in a fairy bubble and don’t pay attention to what people may think or say. My advice would be  “Live for yourself and don’t give a fuck”.
Awesome advice.
How hard was it to release an album in 2020, with all the hardships to promote it with live shows properly and other difficulties you might have faced?
The release was an unexpected blast! Of course it is frustrating not to be able to play live but all our friends and fans have supported us and showed how they loved it, despite the absence of gigs. By the way we’re currently working on some concert behind closed doors, that we’ll record on video and release on our YouTube channel and FB page.
Thank you for the interview Jess! It has been a real pleasure!
Thanks to you for your questions and to you who’s reading this interview! Now go listen to VZ and give us some feedback!
