A new and upcoming band from the USA called Telling Secrets is the host of my interview for my column Beniy Talks Metal. In particular, I chatted with their lead vocalist and the creative man behind this band. Here’s what we talked about!

Hello Vik! How are you doing these days?
What’s up! I’m busy and feeling good!
With “Telling Secrets,” you have already released two singles, and a third one will be out soon. What is the inspiration behind your music?
So far, I’ve put out 5 tracks, with the first 3 making up a visual trilogy that you can watch on YouTube. “Bad Dreams” and “Lullaby” mark the next phase of the music coming out. My inspiration is always spurred by either personal experience or sociocultural things.
If you had to describe “Telling Secrets” to someone who has never heard of the band, which 3 adjectives would you choose?
REALLY FUCKING GOOD – just kidding… Dark, vulnerable & catchy.
Have you ever participated in any music competitions? Did you win any prizes?
I never tried to compete. I wouldn’t even know what contest to enter, to be honest, but the streaming numbers are looking pretty good at the moment. The goal is to have a number 1 record on the Rock/Alternative music charts one day, though, for sure.
You have a very charismatic voice – how often and for how long do you practice?
Thank you. Never – but I should start.
Going back a bit in time, what was your favourite game when you were a kid?
First two that come to mind are Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and Fifa 12
What is your favourite pasta topping?
Carbonara Sauce. Definitely in my top 3 foods.
Do you think that women in metal are being treated differently than men? If so, what do you think the main issue is?
Yes. I don’t know if I’m qualified enough to identify the issue, but I know that girls who I work with/are friends with have to be cautious professionally. A lot of guys are trying to manipulate their professional relationships into something personal, which is pathetic.
Let’s play a little game: if you had to take a road trip with any celebrity, who would it be?
I have absolutely no idea. I’d hate to meet someone in the music business and come across as something less than an equal. I feel like it’d be weird if I were a fan.
Thank you, Vik, for taking the time to do this interview! Would you like to add anything else to the readers?
Thanks for having me – if anyone reading this uses Spotify, then please drop a follow and keep an eye out for some new songs in late 2022 and early 2023 and keep in touch on Instagram/Facebook/TikTok.
Benedetta Baldin

Hi! My name is Benedetta, I’m 29 and I live in Northern Italy. My passion has always been music: I started taking guitar lessons when I was 6. Now I work as a sales representative, but in my free time I interview talented people, I spread the word about my favorite band (MoonSun), and I go to concerts or travel around Europe. I am a huge collector of anything Tolkien-related, autographs, merchandise, and CDs. I am quite an original person and don’t mind being the voice outside of the choir (even though I play in the church’s choir!).
