We had the pleasure to chat with Kajoshin’s vocalist Elena Pavanello and ask her about her band and their new step in their journey signing with a new label and re-releasing their album “CHRISALYS”. Here’s how she answered our questions as we got to know her and her opinions better in this interview.

Hello, Elena. It’s really wonderful to talk with you. How are you doing today?
Hi Mirk, very good thank you. It’s a pleasure for me too.
You recently signed with Wormholedeath and re-released your album “CHRISALYS”. How are you feeling about this new stage of your musical journey?
The others and I are very happy. After a year of making the album, we found the support of Carlo and Nat of Wormhole who believed in our work. We hope to continue like this and make ourselves known to an ever wider audience.
That’s great to hear. How would you describe your sound to someone who hasn’t heard Kajoshin’s music before?
I would define our music as a blend of classic progressive rock with different styles and genres like stoner or psychedelia, singer-songwriter and with Mediterranean flavored melodies.
Nice! sounds like something I’d love! If you were to pick one song from “CHRISALYS” to be played on every radio and every station all over the world, which song would you pick and why?
I would definitely choose “Fightin” which is the song we chose together as a single. But also “Natural Life” which is the piece where I sing lead vocals.
In order to get to know you better and from a different point of view, how about playing an imagination game? I will set a scenario in an alternate universe with new rules and see how you’d react to the different situations.
In a universe where you are made the queen of a country, what would be the first law you’d make?
Good question (haha). I don’t like impositions so I would make a law that forbids laws… but it’s a utopia, every person should have perfect ethics for such a world.
In a universe where humans can choose either to be able to teleport from one place to another or travel back and forth in time, which superpower would you pick?
Have the power to shield me from all the shit that comes our way (hahaha)..
HAHAHA! Might pick teleporting for that then. In a universe where you’re the statue of liberty, what object would you be holding instead of a torch?
I’d hold a nice microphone in my hand.
In a universe where money does not exist, but instead, people pay for things by making other people laugh, how rich would you be considered?
I would say quite rich. My companions recognize me as a very witty person who takes himself lightly.
In a universe where the senses of taste and hearing are mixed up together, what food would you imagine Kajoshin’s music would taste like?
I would say a good fruit salad with different fruits, but well selected.
In a universe where making magic is real, what would your favourite spell do?
What prevents governments from using weapons and violence.
Great one. Thank you for playing, Elena! I hope you enjoyed this! We live in an era where social media became essential for musicians to reach fans and promote their music. In your opinion, what are the cons and pros of social media having all that power in the music industry?
On the one hand, it is positive that any artist can self-promote effectively and with little budget. On the other hand, a flattening of quality and content is being created, perhaps it has become more important to create something on the net than inventing beautiful music or knowing how to put on a good live show.
Have you ever faced any kind of sexism in your professional or personal life? How would you deal with sexist behaviour and what advice would you give young people around the world who face any kind of discrimination?
Luckily for me being a beautiful girl has opened some doors more easily for me, I have never really felt discriminated against for it. Maybe I was more for my ideas or the fact that I am a person who says what I think. The only advice I can give is to do things based on what we feel inside us and to surround ourselves with people who “vibrate” in our frequency.
That’s a good piece of advice. Thank you for giving us this interview, Elena. Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Of course! Listen to our latest work “Chrisalys” come to our social networks and write to us what you think of us. Be curious and look for beauty in the unexpected and not in trivial things. Thank you so much, Mirk for this chance.

I love good music and write about it sometimes.
