Interview with Nadin (Diamantide)

Feb 10, 2025

San Francisco-based newcomers Diamantide are set to make their mark with their self-titled debut album, dropping on February 21, 2025, via Wormholedeath. I had the chance to chat with Nadin, diving into her journey with Diamantide, and learning more about their style and philosophy, her musical background, and her thoughts on various topics.

Reuel

Hello Nadin! I’m happy to chat with you. How are you doing?

Nadin

Hello! Thanks for having me! I’m doing really well and feeling quite inspired these days as we get ready to share our sound with the world!

Reuel

Congratulations on signing with Wormholedeath and on your upcoming debut album! How excited are you for the world to finally experience Diamantide’s music?

Nadin

I can’t even begin to describe the excitement I’m feeling. Signing with Wormholedeath feels like the perfect home for what we do. There’s this incredible energy that comes with knowing that our debut album will finally reach ears everywhere. Every member of Diamantide has poured their heart into this project, and I’m thrilled for people to experience our music firsthand

Reuel

How would you describe Diamantide’s music to someone who hasn’t heard your music before?

Nadin

I’d say it’s a fusion of heavy energy in a melodic introspection. It blends aggressive riffs with complex layers and atmospheric moments that create emotionally resonant sound. It is actually full of nuances that invite you to listen a bit closer each time.

Reuel

Wonderful! Is there a specific track on “Diamantide” that you’re excited to see how the fans will react to it specifically?

Nadin

I don’t want to give too much away, but there’s one particular track, called “Poor Kings”. It is a little turning point in our style. It’s an old school and at some point vulnerable, and I’m eager to see how listeners would react to that blend.

Reuel

Interesting! Now I’m more eager to hear it. You and the other members of Diamantide come from diverse musical and geographical backgrounds. How has this influenced your sound, and will we hear it reflected in the upcoming album?

Nadin

Our diversity is one of our strengths. Coming from different geographical and musical backgrounds means each of us brings unique flavors to the mix. You will definitely hear these elements throughout the album, I promise.

Reuel

Pefect! Which musicians influenced you the most while growing up and inspired you to become an artist?

Nadin

The first biggest influence on me had my father. He taught me to hear the beauty of every sound, the art of storytelling through lyrics and instrumentation. There were also plenty of unexpected influences – sometimes a melody from ethnic music or a jazz improvisation would spark an idea and make me want to share it to the world through my perspective.

Reuel

Do you still enjoy listening to music as a fan, or has working as a musician changed the way you experience it?

Nadin

I always used to listen to music with an analytical ear and deep appreciation for production details, so I barely can call myself a fan. However, at the same time, I still get lost in the emotion and energy of a great track, having two layers of hearing: one for appreciation, and one for inspiration.

Reuel

How do you see the representation of women in heavy music today, and what more can be done to promote inclusivity and support for female musicians?

Nadin

I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in terms of representation, but I also know there’s still work to be done. In heavy music today, I see more female musicians stepping into the spotlight and challenging stereotypes, which is so empowering! We need more platforms, mentorship, and support networks to ensure that female artists can thrive. Whether it’s more inclusive festival lineups, interviews that celebrate our contributions, or simply creating spaces where diverse voices can be heard, every bit of support helps.

Reuel

Powerful words! Thank you for your time and this interview, Nadin! Is there anything you’d like to add before we wrap up?

Nadin

I just want to say a huge thank you for this conversation and for supporting what we do. Music is such a personal journey for me, and sharing it with others—whether through our live shows or our recorded work—is incredibly rewarding. I’m excited for what the future holds, and I hope our debut album sparks something meaningful for anyone who listens to it. Thanks again for the chat, and I can’t wait to connect with fans and fellow musicians alike as we continue this incredible journey.
