The guest of this interview is a remarkable artist and person: I chatted with Novacrow‘s lead singer and guitarist about music, breakfast and animals as well. Let’s take a look at how it’s going in the United Kingdom…

Hello Kitty! How are you doing?
I’m brilliant, thank you!
Awesome! Almost three months ago, you have released your debut album: how would you describe “Look At Me Now” to someone who is just approaching Novacrow’s music?
We describe ourselves as alternative metal, blending heavy rock with hints of industrial. Novacrow is a mix of humour, horror and heavy riffs. We all have very eclectic tastes, which definitely comes across in our music. No two tracks on the album sound the same; we’re bringing tons of different sounds and styles together. Recommended for fans of Rob Zombie, Halestorm, In This Moment and Alice Cooper.
If all the tracks from the album came alive, which one would you bring with you on an adventure?
I LOVE this question! I would say, “Why are my Dreams always trying to kill me?”- simply because the song is written about nightmares that Freddy has had in the past, and bringing them to life would be incredibly cruel… But, it has to be “Frankenfiiine“- a very tongue-in-cheek track about the sexiest monster alive…. The world needs him. We could fight crime together or maybe start a cheesy sitcom…
What was your first record, tape, vinyl or CD that you ever owned?
I definitely had some old and excellent cheesy pop cassettes and compilation CDs when I was super young, but I can’t quite remember which. I definitely remember getting excited to get a copy of Green Day’s American Idiot. I was lucky to be able to raid my dad’s collection, which really shaped my music taste.
Have you ever taught anyone how to sing or how to play the guitar?
I’ve taught myself both! I started playing the guitar as an excuse to write songs when I was an early teen. I never really planned on doing lead vocals, but when Novacrow moved into more of a serious project, I worked hard to improve my voice and protect it. Otherwise, not officially. I’ve helped out Jonyx in the past with vocals to get him ready for recording (see Frankenfiiine for reference!)
Wow, that is so cool! Can you share with us a funny moment that happened during one of your live shows?
Soooo many. I get the giggles so easily too. Once Freddy fell flat on his face running up a hill at an outdoor festival. We were all howling with laughter for ages. We had to use a drum machine at a show, which was absolutely full to bursting, and the laptop started skipping and stopping randomly (probably because of the heat). We had to turn it into musical statues. Everyone loved it, to be fair, haha! Potentially my favourite thing about Novacrow is how much laughing we do, and we always have tons of fun.
It always makes me happy when artists have fun in what they do! What do you usually eat for breakfast?
I’m currently obsessed with overnight chocolate oats with almonds and peanut butter. It’s so sad, and I’m genuinely excited when I wake up…
Women are unfortunately mistreated and discriminated against in every area of their lives: have you ever experienced this awful behaviour towards you?
More times than I can count. I have far too many depressing examples to list here. It’s exhausting and pathetic. Things have got to change.
Since you play in Novacrow, here’s an interesting game for you: if you were an animal, which animal would you be?
A naughty pelican.
Thank you so much, Kitty, for taking the time to do this interview! Is there anything else you’d like to add to FemMetal’s readers?
Thanks so much, I love the questions. Keep on being awesome, and never give up!

Benedetta Baldin

Hi! My name is Benedetta, I’m 29 and I live in Northern Italy. My passion has always been music: I started taking guitar lessons when I was 6. Now I work as a sales representative, but in my free time I interview talented people, I spread the word about my favorite band (MoonSun), and I go to concerts or travel around Europe. I am a huge collector of anything Tolkien-related, autographs, merchandise, and CDs. I am quite an original person and don’t mind being the voice outside of the choir (even though I play in the church’s choir!).
