As Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless are about to hit her hometown of New Jersey during the course of their 2022 Summer Tour, Kimmii Heart from Reality Suite picked her favourite songs by the two bands and created her mixtape for FemMetal. Reality Suite have been cruising through the Rock scene with their catchy melodies and powerful lyrics and songs. Lately, they returned with a new single with Aurin in their first release after the COVID-19 pandemic era.

Halestorm – Heart of Novocain
This song is special to me because I was going through a terrible breakup at the time and this song helped me get through it. It’s like it took everything I was feeling and put it into a powerhouse of a song, it hit home for me.
Track 2
Halestorm – Uncomfortable
I love this song because sometimes it’s fun to get people to feel uncomfortable. When people get uncomfortable by your presence this song is basically saying to own it, because it’s not YOUR fault someone is uncomfortable for you being yourself, literally being yourself can make people just uncomfortable, so I enjoy owning it and all of the uncomfortably rather than being ashamed and this song embodies all of those emotions!

Halestorm – Familiar Taste of Poison
This song is so deep. I was so drawn to this song and fell in love with it. There is so much emotion from the way Lzzy sings it, to the lyrics and the melody. To me, it’s about a relationship you know is not good for you, but you can’t seem to stay away. You keep coming back for the poison and at the time I was in a toxic relationship and falling into that same cycle. I knew it was bad for me, but I didn’t care, the poison tasted too good until it slowly started to destroy me. When I joined Reality Suite I was 19 and this actually was one of the first songs we covered so it definitely has a special place in my heart.

Halestorm – I Get Off
This song is just a kickass song! I love how Lzzy is shameless and is like yeah I’m a woman, yeah I can get off too, because getting off is not just for men and yeah I’m a freak too, deal with it! I definitely vibe with that!

The Pretty Reckless – Just Tonight
This was one of the first songs that got me hooked on The Pretty Reckless in high school. I love the lyrics and how she describes what she’s going through, it’s so raw. That back and forth of knowing you’re in the wrong relationship but staying anyway “for just one more night” and how both parties of the relationship are numbing themselves out and wasting each other’s time.

The Pretty Reckless – Zombie
I love this song so much, also one of the songs that got me hooked on TPR. Basically, it’s saying people’s hate can’t touch her because she’s been through so much that it won’t phase her, she will continue pushing through. During high school, there was a lot of drama and I had this song on repeat at one time and was one of the first songs I learned how to play on guitar.

The Pretty Reckless – House on a Hill
I feel like there’s so much hidden meaning behind this song. But what I think Taylor is trying to say is she’s worried about the children’s innocence. Since she was a child star and grew up in the limelight her innocence was taken from her too early. But she speaks of how eventually the children will lose their innocence anyway and “drink the wine” and it’s unavoidable.

The Pretty Reckless – Light me up
I love this one because she’s saying she doesn’t care if people don’t like what she chooses to wear or say or do. And I love that attitude because people will talk any way you might as well be yourself!
